Study the Platform IV of XXXII

Hi, this is Marsha from Loveheals.us
Come study the platform with me from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy in the chapter called Science of Being, page 330. We’ll take one part of the platform each day for the next 32 days. We’ll read the words Mrs. Eddy has given us. Then, I’ll share with you some ideas that have come to me and then you get to share your ideas in the blog online in the comment area below.
If you know anyone who might like to participate in this exercise, please forward this to them to have them subscribe to my website.
If you miss some, you can catch up by going to the menu at the top
called “Study the Platform“.

IV (Life the creator) God is divine Life, and Life is no more confined to the forms which reflect it than substance is in its shadow. If life were in mortal man or material things, it would be subject to their limitations and would end in death. Life is Mind, the creator reflected in His creations. If He dwelt within what He creates, God would not be reflected but absorbed, and the Science of being would be forever lost through a mortal sense, which falsely testifies to a beginning and an end.S&H 331: 1

Marsha: My take on this 4thplatform is that God is the only Life and Life is not in or of matter, for Life is Spirit, Mind – “the Creator reflected in His creations.”  I love the thought that “If (God) (was) within what He (makes), (He) would not be reflected but absorbed.”  Look at this reflection of the One-altogether lovely.

Thanks for bringing out this notion of absorption. What struck me was that here Eddy corrects the error of God being absorbed by man, whereas at the very top of page 259 she says, “Man is not absorbed in Deity.” So neither absorbs the other. I also like the heading, Life the creator. This disputes the notion that life came about once conditions just happened to be right on earth, almost by accident. No, life came first. In fact, life wasn’t created; Life is the creator. It all starts with Life.

  2. I also love this idea that God isn’t absorbed, because it gives the impression of inactivity; its so wonderful to think of the Spirit of God, filling all space, actively giving life and working with Love, as Love. That is Life.:)

  3. One of the definitions of “absorb” is to soak up, like a sponge. (Webster’s Dictionary 1828 – Online Edition). Life’s idea can’t be confined or soaked up.

“thanks, Marsha… that appropriate message came just in time! “

  6. I’m thinking this morning that we must remember to keep it straight…we reflect God, He doesn’t reflect us. The rays reflect the sun…not the other way ’round. And remembering the seven synonyms keeps it easy to do… We are reflections (not absorptions) of Principle, Mind, Soul, Spirit, Life, Truth, Love…anytime I start to think of God as fallible/anthropomorphic/ineffective/limited…I replace the term “God” with one of these and remember that’s just not possible.
